Tillandsia tenuifolia var. vaginata
Tillandsia tenuifolia var. vaginata is native to the tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas. Its natural range extends from the Caribbean through Brazil to Paraguay. It grows epiphytically (as a plant that attaches to other plants) in forests, at elevations of up to about 900 meters.
The variety was first botanically described in 1880 and was given its currently recognized scientific name by Lyman B. Smith in 1962.
